Cosmos Links Banks to Swift Ledger for Round-the-Clock Payments
Cosmos Tokenization Suite connects financial institutions to Swift's blockchain ledger, enabling 24/7 cross-border payment capabilities.
Cosmos is offering banks and financial institutions a direct pathway into Swift's blockchain-based ledger through its Tokenization Suite, a platform designed to enable around-the-clock cross-border payment settlement, the company announced from New York on Sept. 28, 2026.
The integration addresses a longstanding friction point in global finance: traditional correspondent banking networks operate on fixed business hours and multi-day settlement windows, leaving institutions unable to move funds outside of those constraints. By plugging into Swift's distributed ledger infrastructure, Cosmos aims to give member banks the technical connectivity needed to execute transactions at any hour without relying on legacy batch-processing systems.

The Cosmos Tokenization Suite is positioned as a bridge layer, handling the integration complexity so that individual banks do not need to build custom connections to Swift's evolving blockchain infrastructure on their own. The approach reflects a broader industry trend in which middleware providers increasingly serve as on-ramps to emerging financial market infrastructure, lowering the barrier for institutions that lack dedicated blockchain development resources.
Swift's ledger initiative is part of the global messaging cooperative's longer-term effort to modernize cross-border rails and compete with newer payment networks that have marketed instant settlement as a core feature. Cosmos entering this space signals growing commercial demand for tokenization and real-time settlement tools among regulated financial institutions.
